Whether fortunate or not, we have no control over the family we’re born into. Danny’s situation was no different; he had no choice in the family that took him in. He was powerless when it came to deciding his home or upbringing. Following his mother’s passing, Danny experienced a strange mix of freedom and guilt, driving him to yearn for the sense of togetherness he had lost and wanting to either preserve or recreate that feeling of family connection.
