After several young prostitutes are discovered dead, each with a handmade prayer card affixed to their remains, Detectives Olivia Benson and Eliot Stabler work tirelessly to uncover the connection between the victims. Just as they believe they've identified the killer, Captain Donald Cragen reveals that another victim, Gladys, has been found alive with a prayer card as well. As the investigation progresses, Benson becomes deeply connected to Gladys, leading her to confront a difficult choice that she's not prepared to make.
