Uncle Joe is eager to be appointed as the Mayor of Hooterville since the town lacks one. The perk? An all-expenses-paid trip to the state capital for a convention and a complimentary haircut! Sam, Charley, and Floyd agree that having a mayor could be beneficial, but they insist it should be democratic. They persuade Kate to run for the position, despite her reluctance. Upon hearing the news, Joe decides to vacate the Hotel. Selma Plout will stop at nothing to ensure Kate’s defeat, even taking on the role of Joe’s campaign manager, as she has her sights set on becoming the mayor's spouse. Kate devises a clever strategy to extricate both herself and Joe from this predicament.
