Episode Overview

Garth fumbles during Merle's press conference, earning his ire, but Merle swiftly pivots the situation by announcing his engagement. Wanda requests a private celebration, but Merle insists on waiting until their wedding night to be intimate. Feeling rejected, Wanda seeks out Annie, who reassures her that she poses no threat to the marriage. Both women come to an understanding that they view relationships in numerical terms. Meanwhile, Mary calls Italy to inform Gore Vidal that she can no longer co-write their book due to the chaos in Fernwood. Merle overhears and tells Mary he recognizes qualities in her that Tom overlooks. Mary invites Merle for a calming cup of tea in her kitchen.
