As summer rolls in, Mrs. Andersen and her daughters prepare to welcome guests back to their beach hotel for another season in 1930. While the global crisis looms just beyond the nation's borders, the regular patrons are wrapped up in their own dilemmas. Wholesaler Madsen is trying to rebuild his life after last fall's bankruptcy. Mrs. Aurland is anxious that her husband may discover he isn’t the biological father of their infant son. Amanda has reunited with Count Ditmar but still harbors feelings for Max. Meanwhile, Weyse arrives with a talented young acting student, whose skills surprise everyone.
