In 1941, the Germans have taken control of the nearby hotel, but the loyal patrons refuse to be deterred. As Weyse puts it, “If we act as if they don’t exist, then they truly don’t.” The regulars continue to frequent their favorite spot, creating a bubble of normalcy amid the chaos surrounding them.
