Helen McKee, the unassuming secretary at Middleford Comprehensive, falls victim to a hit-and-run incident. Detectives Kate Ashurst and Emma Scribbins learn that Helen had significant influence over student admissions at the sought-after school, raising suspicions about desperate parents. As they dig deeper, they also find clues that point towards headmaster John Stanton, whose vehicle was also involved in the incident.
