Monkey (1978)

Episode Overview

Tripitaka is troubled by a haunting dream about his mother’s impending death, which leaves him distracted throughout the day. Worried for his master, Monkey swiftly returns to China and discovers that Tripitaka's mother, Wing-Chow, is suffering from a fatal plague. Before her passing, she urges Monkey to ensure her son, originally named Hsüan Tsang, continues his quest to India. To protect Tripitaka from the painful truth, Monkey disguises himself as Wing-Chow, pretending she is still alive, fearing that the news would compel Tripitaka to abandon his journey and come back home.
