Backstrom returns home to discover the body of Dante Trippi, the man who abused Valentine, lying dead on his doorstep. Concerned for Valentine’s safety, the Special Crimes Unit dives into an investigation that uncovers a network of counterfeit wine smugglers, a crooked river patrol officer, and a Portland government official tangled in the mess. As the team struggles to apprehend the murderer, Valentine’s tendency to lie complicates matters further. Meanwhile, Amy, played by guest star Sarah Chalke, has started dating someone new, much to Backstrom’s disapproval.
