S01E05 Northern Europe
Episode Overview
In the concluding chapter of his six-month adventure, Bruce Parry explores Arctic Europe. He visits a secluded village in Russia, nestled within the expansive Boreal forest that extends for thousands of miles across the northern landscape. Here, life has remained largely unchanged for centuries, with locals relying on the forest's bounty for sustenance. Bruce then heads north to Norway, where he immerses himself in the world of the Saami, reindeer herders who utilize snowmobiles, boats, and even helicopters to tend to their herds. His journey culminates in a remote scientific community in the Svalbard archipelago, where he discovers the delicate balance of the Arctic ecosystem. As the long winter night approaches, Bruce witnesses the breathtaking aurora borealis illuminating the sky.
