Anthony Stewart faces murder charges for the death of Michael Russell, the spouse of his lover. Despite being a British ambassador with diplomatic immunity, Stewart chooses not to invoke it, determined to prove his innocence. Matlock takes on the challenge of defending him, but just as the case is nearing its conclusion, Stewart becomes the target of a nearly fatal hit-and-run incident.
