Matlock (1986)

Chris Reardon, a man passionate about reviving the spirit of the sixties in the late eighties, finds himself accused of murdering Mayor Brian Barelli. Believing in Reardon's innocence, reporter Paul O'Neill persuades Matlock to come to Chicago and take on the case. Initially hesitant, Matlock ultimately agrees to help when he realizes O'Neill's clever manipulation, understanding that abandoning the case could jeopardize Reardon's prospects for a fair defense.
