Thomas Mark Harmon, born on September 2, 1951, is a distinguished American actor, director, and producer. He is best recognized for his iconic portrayal of Leroy Jethro Gibbs on the long-running series NCIS, which aired from 2003 to 2021. Harmon's performance garnered him six nominations for the People's Choice Awards, culminating in a win for Favorite TV Crime Drama Actor in 2017. Beyond his acting role, he took on the responsibilities of producer and executive producer for NCIS and its spinoff, NCIS: New Orleans, starting in 2008.

Harmon's character, Gibbs, was first introduced in a guest appearance on the military legal drama JAG, which paved the way for his pivotal role in NCIS. He also made a notable impact in 2002 with a recurring role as Secret Service agent Simon Donovan on The West Wing, earning him an Emmy Award nomination.

Before his acting career took off, Harmon had a brief stint as a collegiate football player at UCLA. His entry into the entertainment industry began with a Kellogg's Product 19 commercial featuring his father, Tom Harmon, and was further facilitated by his sister Kristin's connections to the Nelson family, leading to his first acting job in Ozzie's Girls.

Since 1987, Harmon has been married to actress Pam Dawber, and together they have two sons, one of whom, Sean Harmon, appeared as a young version of Gibbs on NCIS.
