Amy Spanger
Amy Spanger is a talented American actress, singer, and dancer, known for her dynamic performances on Broadway.
Born in Newbury, Massachusetts, Spanger's career took off in 1995 when she made her Broadway debut in the acclaimed musical Sunset Boulevard. Prior to this, she spent six months touring nationally with Jekyll & Hyde. She gained recognition for originating the role of Lois Lane (Bianca) in the Broadway revival of Kiss Me, Kate. Her versatility shone through as she played iconic roles such as Roxie Hart in Chicago and Hope Cladwell in Urinetown. In 2006, she took on the role of Holly in The Wedding Singer, further solidifying her presence in musical theater.
Spanger's impressive credits also include the national tours of Rent and Chicago, as well as originating Susan in the off-Broadway production of Jonathan Larson’s tick, tick... BOOM!. She appeared in Lunch and Feeling Electric, which later evolved into the hit musical Next to Normal, alongside actor Anthony Rapp.
In addition to these roles, Spanger was the original Sherrie in the Broadway musical Rock of Ages but took a leave for vocal rest in June 2009, eventually departing for personal reasons. Most recently, she originated Jovie in the Broadway adaptation of Elf, which ran for nine weeks at the Al Hirschfeld Theater, concluding on January 2, 2011.
