Chuck Low
Charles Lewis Low (July 21, 1928 – September 18, 2017) was a distinguished American actor known for his memorable roles in film and television. Born in New York City to a Russian mother and an Austrian-Polish father, Low carved out a niche for himself in the world of cinema, most notably for his portrayal of Morris "Morrie" Kessler in Martin Scorsese's acclaimed film *Goodfellas* (1990). Morrie, a character recognized for his humorous "Morrie's Wig Shop" commercial and his persistent requests for money from Jimmy Conway, ultimately meets a tragic end at the hands of Tommy DeVito, showcasing Low's talent for embodying complex characters. The character of Morrie was inspired by real-life figure Martin Krugman.
In addition to his iconic role in *Goodfellas*, Low appeared in several other Robert De Niro films, including *The Mission* and *The King of Comedy*. He had a notable role as Deborah and Fat Moe's father in Sergio Leone's epic *Once Upon a Time in America* (1984). Low also guest-starred as Shlomo Teittleman in an early episode of *The Sopranos*, further solidifying his presence in the crime drama genre. Additionally, he appeared in Alan Taylor's 2003 film *Kill the Poor*, demonstrating his versatility as an actor throughout his career.
