John Herbert Gleason (February 26, 1916 – June 24, 1987) was a celebrated American performer, revered as "The Great One" for his contributions to comedy, acting, writing, and composing. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, Gleason honed a unique comedic style characterized by bold visual gags and sharp dialogue. He gained widespread fame for his portrayal of Ralph Kramden, a city bus driver, in the iconic television series The Honeymooners. Additionally, he created The Jackie Gleason Show, a variety program that enjoyed impressive viewership from the mid-1950s until 1970. Initially broadcast from New York City, the show relocated to Miami Beach, Florida, in 1964, coinciding with Gleason's decision to make the city his permanent home.
