Sugiura Asami entered the film industry at the age of nineteen with her role in "Kiss Me Or Kill Me: Todokanakutemo Aaishiteru," a decision that marked the beginning of a diverse career. Following her high school graduation, she chose to forgo university after receiving her parents' consent. Her early employment included positions as a waitress, telemarketer, and pachinko parlor worker, until a friend introduced her to the world of cinema. She embraced her first acting opportunity, which required nudity, and soon landed a modeling assignment for an adult magazine in 2005. In 2006, she switched agents twice, ultimately deciding to go by the name Asami, though she briefly returned to her full name in 2008 before reverting back to Asami in 2009. The "Machine Girl" films significantly raised her profile, showcasing her intense gaze and striking presence. She met director Iguchi Noboru in 2007, which led to multiple collaborations in his films. Although she starred in various pink and adult films, Asami announced her intention to transition to mainstream cinema in 2008, still embracing provocative roles. Her talent was recognized with a special performance award at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival of Japan in 2014. Beyond acting, Asami has interests in reptiles, film, and karaoke, and is also skilled at playing both the piano and saxophone. She has published several photo books throughout her career.
