Jane Greer was an acclaimed actress in both film and television, renowned for her captivating portrayal of the seductive femme fatale Kathie Moffat in the classic 1947 film noir, *Out of the Past*. Born into beauty and talent, Greer began her career as a model and beauty contest winner before transitioning to the entertainment industry as a big-band singer, performing with Enric Madriguera’s orchestra in Washington, D.C.

Her striking looks caught the attention of Howard Hughes, who brought her to Hollywood in 1942. Greer signed with RKO Studios, where she starred in a series of films, including *Dick Tracy*, *They Won't Believe Me*, and *The Big Steal*, alongside co-star Robert Mitchum. Despite struggles with her contract, which restricted her opportunities, she found success in films such as *You're in the Navy Now* and *The Prisoner of Zenda*. In a remarkable twist, she reprised her role from *Out of the Past* in the 1984 remake *Against All Odds*.

Greer’s television career was equally impressive, featuring guest roles on popular shows like *Alfred Hitchcock Presents*, *Murder, She Wrote*, and *Columbo*. She also appeared in recurring roles on *Falcon Crest* and *Twin Peaks* until her retirement in 1996. In recognition of her contributions to cinema, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. Greer passed away on August 24, 2001, at the age of 76, leaving behind a legacy that continues to resonate in the film industry.
