George Whaley
George Whaley (June 19, 1934 – August 6, 2019) was a distinguished Australian actor, director, and writer celebrated for his contributions to both theatre and film.
From 1976 to 1981, Whaley held the position of Head of Acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), where he nurtured and guided a new generation of actors. His students included prominent figures in the Australian entertainment industry, such as Mel Gibson, Judy Davis, Colin Friels, Hugo Weaving, Philip Quast, Steve Bisley, Tom Burlinson, Linda Cropper, Penny Cook, Anne Tenney, Heather Mitchell, and Di Smith.
