Aubrey Morris

Aubrey Morris (June 1, 1926 - July 15, 2015) was a distinguished British actor celebrated for his diverse and memorable roles across film and television. He gained considerable acclaim for his performances in iconic films such as Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange (1971), where he portrayed the dubious probation officer Mr. Deltoid, and the cult classic The Wicker Man (1973), in which he played a chilling gravedigger.

Morris's career spanned several decades and included notable appearances in various productions. He captivated audiences as the eccentric writer Mr. Mybug in Cold Comfort Farm (1968) and showcased his comedic talents as Grosvenor, the scheming manservant in the Ripping Yarns episode "The Curse of the Claw" (1976), where he humorously solicited Michael Palin for "naughty books." Additionally, he portrayed the jovial captain of the B-Ark in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1981), a character who enjoyed an extended soak in his bubble bath amidst a peculiar cast of characters.

In his later years, Morris moved to the United States in the mid-1980s and continued to act, showcasing his talent until his passing at the age of 89. His final role was as the elderly thespian Chesterton in HBO's Deadwood (2004), where he delivered poignant lines from King Lear, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of entertainment.
