Hans Schumm
Hans Josef Schumm, born Johann Josef Eugen Schumm on April 2, 1896, in Stuttgart, Germany, became a celebrated American actor after relocating to the United States. Over the span of his illustrious career, Schumm emerged as a prolific character actor, with an impressive filmography that includes approximately 95 films. He is particularly remembered for his compelling performances, including a notable villain role in a 12-episode serial.
In addition to his extensive film work, Schumm made significant contributions to television, appearing in 15 productions, and he showcased his talent on stage, including a performance on Broadway. While much of his cinematic and television work was produced in the U.S., a few of his early projects were filmed in Europe.
Throughout his career, he was credited under various names, predominantly as Hans Josef Schumm or simply Hans Schumm. Interestingly, he also adopted the pseudonym André Pola for seven films, including three in 1948, one in 1949, one in 1954, and another in 1956.
