Cliff Robertson
Clifford Parker Robertson III, widely known as Cliff Robertson, was an American actor whose impressive career in film and television lasted over fifty years. Born on September 9, 1923, he gained significant recognition for his portrayal of a young John F. Kennedy in the 1963 film "PT 109." Robertson's talents earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1968 for his compelling performance in "Charly," a film that showcased his remarkable range.
In addition to his film work, Robertson made notable contributions to television. He portrayed retired astronaut Buzz Aldrin in the 1976 adaptation of Aldrin's memoir, "Return to Earth." In the 1977 miniseries "Washington: Behind Closed Doors," he took on the role of a fictional character inspired by CIA Director Richard Helms, further showcasing his versatility. Additionally, he portrayed the legendary industrialist Henry Ford in the 1987 film "Ford: The Man and the Machine."
Robertson's final prominent appearances came as Uncle Ben in the "Spider-Man" film trilogy, which spanned from 2002 to 2007, solidifying his place in popular culture. Cliff Robertson passed away on September 10, 2011, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances and a significant impact on the entertainment industry.
