Jon Cedar
Jon Cedar (1931-2011) was a prolific American actor whose career spanned over six decades, encompassing more than sixty films and television productions. He is best remembered for his role as Corporal Karl Langenscheidt on the classic sitcom "Hogan's Heroes."
Cedar's journey in the entertainment industry began after he completed his service in the U.S. military during the Korean War. He initially developed his acting skills in high school theater and subsequently joined his family in various traveling musical and off-Broadway performances. He later became a key member of the Players Ring theatre troupe in Hollywood.
Recognized for his extensive filmography, Cedar made a significant impact with his portrayal of Corporal Langenscheidt, one of his most iconic roles on "Hogan's Heroes." His film career included notable appearances in movies like "Capricorn One," "Death Hunt," "The Manitou," and "The Concorde... Airport '79." In television, he showcased his talent through guest roles on numerous well-known series such as "Matlock," "Barnaby Jones," "Kojak," and "Murder, She Wrote."
Jon Cedar was married to Barbara Joan Shandell and was a devoted father to two children. He continued to pursue his passion for acting until his death in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 80.
