Diane Lane
Diane Colleen Lane, born on January 22, 1965, in New York City, is a distinguished American actress and producer. She made her film debut at just 14 in the 1979 production A Little Romance, earning high praise from co-star Laurence Olivier, who likened her talent to that of Grace Kelly.
Despite early promise, Lane faced setbacks with two films, Streets of Fire and The Cotton Club, which failed to achieve commercial success and hindered her career momentum. After a brief hiatus, she returned to the screen with roles in The Big Town and Lady Beware, yet it was her performance in the critically acclaimed 1989 miniseries Lonesome Dove that earned her an Emmy nomination and revived her career.
Her breakthrough came in 1999 with A Walk on the Moon, followed by a notable role in the 2000 hit The Perfect Storm alongside George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg. Lane garnered significant acclaim for her role in the 2002 film Unfaithful, earning her the Satellite Award and nominations for an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress.
Throughout the following years, she balanced leading roles in romantic dramas like Must Love Dogs (2005) and thrillers such as Hollywoodland (2006). Lane has collaborated with Francis Ford Coppola on four occasions and played Martha Kent in Man of Steel (2013) and its DC Extended Universe installments. Her latest work includes the 2020 neo-western Let Him Go.
