Art Linkletter

Arthur Gordon Linkletter, originally named Gordon Arthur Kelly (though sources vary), was a prominent Canadian-born American radio and television figure whose career spanned several decades. Born on July 17, 1912, he became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1942 and went on to become a beloved household name.

Linkletter is best remembered as the charismatic host of the long-running CBS program "House Party," which aired for an impressive 25 years, along with "People Are Funny," which delighted audiences on NBC for 19 years. His engaging style and ability to connect with people contributed significantly to the success of these shows.

In later years, segments from "House Party" featuring children’s candid remarks were repurposed for the original version of "Kids Say the Darndest Things," which further solidified his legacy in television. He also authored a series of books that captured the delightful and often humorous observations made by children during his shows.

Aside from his work in broadcasting, Linkletter made appearances in four films, showcasing his versatility as a performer. Throughout his life, he garnered numerous accolades and left an indelible mark on American entertainment.
