The eldest of three siblings, Eve grew up in Pimlico, London. Her mother, Janet, who was one of seven sisters also from Pimlico, worked as a professional Tea Lady. Her father, Paul Ferret, hailed from Barnet and spent his summers painting the houses in Pimlico and delivering coal during the winter months. The Ferret family has notable ties to the world of music, being related to the renowned Gypsy jazz guitarists Pierre 'Baro' Ferret, Jean 'Matelo' Ferret, and Etienne 'Sarane' Ferret, who were associated with the legendary Django Reinhardt in the Quintette of the Hot Club of France.

Eve's career began in the late 1970s when she performed in a cabaret duo known as Biddie & Eve at the iconic 'Blitz' nightclub.
