Wilson Wood

Wilson Wood, originally named Charles Woodrow Tolkien, was an American character actor born on February 11, 1915, in Huron, North Dakota. He began his acting journey in the mid-20th century, making his film debut in 1946 with a modest role in "Two Sisters from Boston," directed by Henry Koster. Over the next 17 years, Wood carved out a niche for himself in the film industry, appearing in more than 100 films, often in supporting roles.

In 1952, he gained notable recognition by starring in a serial produced by Republic Pictures titled "Zombies of the Stratosphere." This 12-part series was later condensed and released in 1958 as a feature film named "Satan's Satellites." Wood's career continued until his final film appearance in 1962, when he featured alongside stars Doris Day, Stephen Boyd, and Jimmy Durante in "Jumbo."

Throughout his career, Wood established himself as a familiar face in Hollywood, known for his versatility across various genres. He passed away on October 23, 2004, in Culver City, California, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances that still resonate with film enthusiasts today.
