Shirley Patterson, who sometimes went by the name Shawn Smith, was a Canadian actress recognized for her work in B-movies during the 1940s and 1950s. Born on December 26, 1922, she passed away on April 4, 1995.

Patterson embarked on her acting journey following her participation in beauty pageants in California in 1940. After completing her education at the Mar-Ken School in Sherman Oaks in 1941, she quickly secured a contract with Columbia Pictures. Over her career, she accumulated a filmography that included forty films, several television roles, and a serial.

In her youth, Patterson was known for her striking beauty, which led her to portray the leading lady in the 1943 Batman serial that consisted of fifteen chapters. She starred alongside Russell Hayden and Bob Wills in the 1944 film The Vigilantes Ride. The following year, she appeared with Eddie Dean and Roscoe Ates in Driftin River, followed by Tumbleweed Trail, both released in 1946. Among her later works are the 1957 adventure film The Land Unknown and the 1958 science fiction feature It! The Terror from Beyond Space, which also featured Ray "Crash" Corrigan.

In her final years, Patterson battled cancer and ultimately passed away in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1995.
