Masumi is a dynamic artist with roots in both Japan and the United States. Born in Palos Verdes, California, she spent her childhood navigating life between Tokyo, New York, Washington DC, and ultimately Dallas, where she ignited her passion for music as a singer-songwriter. Performing in local diners and cafes, she quickly garnered a loyal fan base with just her guitar and heartfelt lyrics.

After returning to Tokyo to study at International Christian University, Masumi's life took a dramatic turn during the catastrophic earthquake of 2011. Trapped in an underground café when the 9.0 magnitude quake struck, she emerged from the experience with newfound clarity and resolve. Three months later, she moved back to the U.S. to pursue her artistic dreams, enrolling at the Los Angeles College of Music (LACMA).

Masumi's international performances have taken her to Sweden, New York, Italy, and Tokyo. Notable collaborations include working with industry luminaries such as Dorian Holly (Michael Jackson), JJ Blaire, and Grammy-nominated producer Triston Boston. In 2016, she received a tempting offer from a top Japanese manager to pursue a pop career in Japan, but she chose to stay true to her unique artistic vision instead.

In 2018, she released "Run Baby, Run," a deeply personal single that resonated with many and was featured on several Spotify playlists. Recently, she ventured into acting, landing the lead role in Warner Brothers' "Yakuza Princess," alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Fluent in both English and Japanese, Masumi continues to inspire others by encouraging them to pursue their dreams despite life’s challenges. She is represented by BRS/Gage and Echelon Talent.
