To Love (1997)

Plot

Mitsu, an employee at a factory, harbors feelings for Tsutomu, a charming young man she encounters in Tokyo. After a deceptive and intimate encounter, Tsutomu, troubled by his past, cruelly leaves her alone. A month later, he returns, and the couple moves in together, but their happiness is short-lived when Mitsu discovers a suspicious sore on her arm. Diagnosed with leprosy, she secretly checks into a sanitarium, where she finds joy and wisdom among the other patients. Just as she learns the sore isn’t leprosy, she faces a heartbreaking decision: returning to Tsutomu could mean abandoning her new friends.
