Tamela Jean Mann, born Tamela Johnson, is a celebrated American gospel singer, songwriter, and actress, who is married to fellow actor David Mann. Her journey in acting commenced in 1999 when she was discovered by renowned filmmaker Tyler Perry. She made her stage debut in the play *I Can Do Bad All By Myself* in 2000, and soon after, she featured in the comedy film *Kingdom Come*. Mann became a prominent figure in Perry’s productions, starring in plays such as *Meet the Browns*, *Madea's Family Reunion*, *Madea's Class Reunion*, *Diary of a Mad Black Woman*, and *What's Done in the Dark*.

In 2005, she starred in the film adaptation of *Diary of a Mad Black Woman*, reprising her role in the 2008 film *Meet The Browns*. She also headlined the TBS sitcom *Meet the Browns* from 2009 to 2011. Mann appeared in *Madea Goes to Jail* (2009) and *Madea's Big Happy Family* (2011), and in 2012, she acted in the musical film *Sparkle*, alongside Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks. Her recent projects include *Soul Santa* (2021) and *A Madea Homecoming* (2022), as well as her role in *The Color Purple* adaptation.

Mann began her musical career as part of Kirk Franklin and the Family, contributing to hits like “Now Behold the Lamb” and “Lean on Me.” She later launched her solo career with albums such as *Gotta Keep Movin* (2005) and *The Master Plan* (2009).
