Growing up in a family of actors—her parents are Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd—Dern embarked on her acting journey in the 1980s. She gained critical acclaim with standout performances in films like "Mask" (1985) and David Lynch’s "Blue Velvet" (1986) and "Wild at Heart" (1990). Her portrayal of an orphan in "Rambling Rose" (1991) earned her an Academy Award nomination, while her role in Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" (1993) solidified her status as a global star, a role she reprised in "Jurassic Park III" (2001).
