Pierre Tornade
Pierre Tornade, born Pierre Tournadre on January 21, 1930, in Bort-les-Orgues, Corrèze, was a prominent French actor whose career spanned over four decades. He made his theatrical debut at the age of 25 in the play *Elle est folle, Carole* at the Palais-Royal Theatre. Tornade's film career took off in 1956 with his role in the musical comedy *Irma la douce*, followed by his film debut in *Les Truands*, where he adopted the stage name Tornade.
In 1957, he showcased his skills in *Pericles, Prince of Tyre*, before joining the Branquignols troupe led by Robert Dhéry, alongside notable actors like Jean Lefebvre and Michel Serrault. His commanding presence soon made him a sought-after figure on television, where he starred in popular sitcoms such as *Thierry la Fronde* (1963), *Le Chevalier d'Harmental* (1966), and *Nestor Burma* as Commissioner Florimond Faroux.
Tornade also lent his voice to iconic animated characters, portraying Vitalstatistix in *Asterix le Gaul* (1967) and Averell Dalton in *Lucky Luke* films. He was honored as a Chevalier of the National Order of Merit in 1996. Tragically, he passed away on March 7, 2012, in Rambouillet after a fall at his home, leaving behind a rich legacy in French cinema and television.
