Plot
Chief Inspector Verjeat finds himself embroiled in a dangerous investigation after political enforcers kill a volunteer and a police officer. Suspecting councilman Lardatte orchestrated the violence, Verjeat faces pressure from superiors to back off. A tense standoff leads to public embarrassment for Lardatte, prompting a swift transfer order for Verjeat. Unwilling to abandon his pursuit, he teams up with young detective Lefévre to devise an elaborate plan, allowing him to continue his quest for justice. Caught between loyalty to the law and his own principles, Verjeat must navigate a treacherous path of honor.
