Gale Page, originally named Sally Perkins Rutter, was born on July 29, 1910, in Spokane, Washington, and passed away on January 8, 1983, in Santa Monica, California. She was a talented American singer and actress, known for her contributions to both film and radio.
The daughter of R.L. and Isabel Rutter, Gale came from a prominent family; her uncle was Miles Poindexter, a former U.S. senator and ambassador, and she was the great-granddaughter of Joseph Gale, the first governor of Oregon.
Before transitioning to film, Page garnered attention as a radio actress and singer. She began her career at a Spokane radio station, later moving to KYW in Chicago and NBC, where she was featured on programs like *Fibber McGee and Molly*. Her soap opera roles included Gertrude Lamont in *Masquerade* in 1935 and Gloria Marsh in *Today's Children* starting May 27, 1936.
In 1938, she made her film debut in *Crime School* alongside Humphrey Bogart and secured a notable role in *Four Daughters*, where she co-starred with the Lane Sisters. Over her career, which consisted of 16 films, she appeared in titles such as *Knute Rockne, All American* and *The Time of Your Life*. Additionally, she was a semi-regular on *Robert Montgomery Presents* from 1954 to 1957.
Gale Page's life ended at 72 due to lung cancer, leaving behind a legacy in entertainment that spans multiple mediums.
