Tony Fields, originally from Stafford, Kansas, adopted his stepfather Max's last name after his parents divorced when he was just four years old. He later relocated to Davis, California, where he embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of performing arts. Initially starting with gymnastics, Tony transitioned to dance and secured scholarships at both the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, where he honed his skills in drama and voice, and the Roland Dupree Academy of Dance.

His career quickly gained momentum, as he joined Debbie Reynolds' nightclub touring act a mere three months after beginning his dance training at Dupree. By the time he joined the iconic television show "Solid Gold," he had only two years of formal training under his belt.

Fields became a familiar face in the music industry, appearing in several notable music videos, such as Michael Jackson's legendary "Beat It" and "Thriller," and was featured in the accompanying "Making of Thriller" documentary. He also danced in Lionel Richie’s "Running with the Night." As a performer on "Solid Gold," he showcased his talents at events like the Miss Teen USA pageant and featured in the "Solid Gold 5 Day Workout" exercise video. His early television credits included appearances on "Lil Abner," "Bobby Vinton Rock and Rollers," and "The John Davidson Christmas Special," marking the beginning of a distinguished career in entertainment.
