Tim Preece
Tim Preece, born on August 5, 1938, in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, is a distinguished English actor whose career spans several decades, beginning in the 1960s. He received his education at the Priory Grammar School for Boys in Shrewsbury before honing his skills at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Preece's breakout role came in 1965 when he portrayed Nipple in David Halliwell's play "Little Malcolm and His Struggle Against the Eunuchs." He captivated audiences at the Dublin Theatre Festival and later made a memorable West End debut alongside John Hurt in 1966, eventually transferring to Broadway in the same role, directed by Alan Arkin, as the sole original cast member.
His television career is marked by a variety of notable performances, including Codal in the classic "Doctor Who" serial "Planet of the Daleks" (1973) and Tom Patterson in the beloved sitcom "The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin" (1976–77), a role he reprised in the 1996 sequel series. Preece showcased his versatility in other series such as "People Like Us" (2001), where he played a local newspaper editor, and "Waiting for God" (1992–94) as Rev. Sparrow. Additionally, he appeared in "Foyle's War" (2003) and had a memorable turn in "Peep Show" (2003).
In 2017, Preece showcased his talents in the Royal National Theatre's improvised production "Lost Without Words," further solidifying his reputation as a versatile and enduring figure in British theatre and television.
