Sammo Hung Kam-Bo
Sammo Hung Kam-Bo (洪金寶), born on January 7, 1952, is a prominent Hong Kong actor, martial artist, producer, and director celebrated for his extensive contributions to kung fu films and Hong Kong action cinema. Renowned for his expertise in fight choreography, he has collaborated with iconic figures such as Jackie Chan, King Hu, and John Woo. Hung played a crucial role in the Hong Kong New Wave movement of the 1980s, transforming the martial arts genre and pioneering the vampire-inspired Jiang Shi genre.
Throughout his illustrious career, Hung has been instrumental in launching the careers of numerous actors in the Hong Kong film industry, often casting them in his productions or involving them behind the scenes. In East Asian culture, it is customary to use familial terms to address respected figures, and while Sammo was once referred to as "Dai Goh" (Big Brother) by his peers, he earned the title "Dai Goh Dai" (Big, Big Brother) when working with Jackie Chan on *Project A*, due to being the eldest among their kung fu "brothers" and the first to achieve significant success in the industry.
Additionally, Hung was a member of the "Seven Little Fortunes," a talented group that emerged from Yu Jim-Yuen's China Drama Academy's Peking Opera School, further solidifying his legacy in the world of martial arts and cinema.
