Joanna Miles
Joanna Miles, born on March 6, 1940, is a distinguished American actress renowned for her impactful contributions to stage and screen. Originating from Nice, France, she is the daughter of American painter Jeanne Miles and French art curator Johannes Schiefer. Miles became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1941 after her family immigrated to America. She completed her education at The Putney School in Vermont, graduating in 1958.
Miles is perhaps best known for her remarkable performance as Laura Wingfield in the acclaimed 1973 television adaptation of Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie." Her portrayal garnered her two Emmy Awards: one for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama and another for Supporting Actress of the Year, solidifying her reputation in the industry.
Throughout her career, she has made notable appearances in a variety of television series and films. Among her diverse roles, she featured in the 1990 film "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead" and is particularly remembered by "Star Trek" enthusiasts for her role as Perrin, Sarek's spouse, in the episodes "Sarek" and "Unification."
