Brad Renfro
Brad Barron Renfro (July 25, 1982 – January 15, 2008) was a notable American actor hailing from Knoxville, Tennessee. He was the son of Angela Denise McCrory and Mark Renfro, who worked in a factory. Renfro's talent was recognized at the tender age of 10 when he was spotted by director Joel Schumacher, leading to his breakthrough role in the film "The Client" (1994), alongside established stars Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones. While this film marked the peak of his early success, he subsequently featured in a range of other projects, including "The Cure" (1995), "Tom and Huck" (1995), "Sleepers" (1996), and "Apt Pupil" (1998). Throughout his career, he appeared in 21 feature films, along with several short films and two episodes of television series. In 1995, Renfro received The Hollywood Reporter's Young Star Award and was recognized by People magazine as one of their "Top 30 Under 30." However, his promising career was overshadowed by struggles with addiction, which began in his teenage years and led to multiple arrests. Unfortunately, this tumultuous period affected his later work in the industry. Tragically, Renfro passed away from a heroin overdose on January 15, 2008, at the age of just 25.
