Darrin Kenneth O'Brien, widely recognized by his stage name Snow, is a Canadian reggae musician, rapper, and singer born on October 30, 1969, in North York, Ontario. Snow garnered international acclaim with his 1992 hit single "Informer," which remarkably topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks.

Raised in a challenging environment as one of four children to an Irish-Canadian cab driver and a homemaker, Snow faced adversity early on. After his parents' divorce, he lived with his mother in a public housing project, where he became entangled in a rough lifestyle. A strong interest in music, especially rock, shifted to reggae following an influx of Jamaican immigrants to his neighborhood in the early 1980s. This transition led him to develop a unique sound that fuses dancehall and reggae with rock and pop influences.

Snow encountered legal troubles in his youth, serving an eight-month sentence for a bar fight incident. During his time in jail, he focused on music and wrote songs, including "Informer." His breakthrough came when Jamaican DJ Marvin Prince introduced him to the music scene. After securing a record deal with Motorjam/Elektra, Snow released his debut album, *12 Inches of Snow*, paving the way for his successful career in music. His ability to combine diverse musical styles has left an indelible mark on the reggae genre.
