Aksel Hennie
Aksel Hennie, born on 29 October 1975, is a prominent Norwegian actor, director, and writer known for his impactful roles in film and theater. Hailing from Lambertseter, Oslo, Hennie's teenage years included a controversial chapter in which he was sentenced for graffiti, making headlines in Norway and influencing the narrative of his debut film, Uno.
After several attempts, Hennie was accepted into the Norwegian National Academy of Theatre, graduating in 2001. His theater career blossomed with performances at Teatret Vårt in Molde and Oslo Nye Teater, showcasing his talent in productions such as Hamlet and Kvinnen som giftet seg med en kalkun (The Woman Who Married a Turkey).
Hennie's film career took off with his role in Jonny Vang (2003), where he impressed director Jens Lien despite initial doubts about his age. The same year, he appeared in Buddy and Ulvesommer, and he made his directorial debut with Uno, in which he also starred. His dedication to the role involved rigorous physical training to portray bodybuilders authentically.
In 2005, Hennie received the Amanda Award for "Best Direction" for Uno, further solidifying his reputation as a talented filmmaker. He also won "Best Actor" for Jonny Vang and was recognized as one of European film's "Shooting Stars" in 2004. His role in the acclaimed film Max Manus (2008) brought him wider recognition, and he continues to work on international projects, including the WWII film Age of Heroes.
