Qi Yuwu is widely recognized as one of the most successful local television actors who transitioned into the film industry. His acting career took off after he won the China round of the All Asian Star Search in 1999, a talent competition that showcased aspiring performers. A graduate in Physical Education from Guangzhou Sports University, Yuwu relocated to Singapore after signing with MediaCorp.

Yuwu made his television debut in the series *Master Swordsman Lu Xiao Feng*, where he acted alongside regional talents, followed by *Dare To Strike*, a co-production featuring seasoned Hong Kong stars. His charm and skill quickly made him a favorite among audiences in Singapore, resulting in numerous leading roles across various drama serials.

He has consistently received nominations for Best Actor at MediaCorp’s annual Star Awards and has won accolades such as the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes. In 2007, he was honored as the Screen Heartthrob of the 2000s at the Star Awards 25th Drama Anniversary Show, and he received the Highly Commended distinction for Best Drama Performance by an Actor at the Asian Television Awards in 2009 for his significant role in *The Little Nyonya*. In 2011, he bagged the Best Actor award at the Star Awards for his performance in *The Family Court*.

Yuwu’s film career began in 2007 with *Home Song Stories*, which garnered seven Golden Horse nominations, including Best Film. He further gained international recognition with the hit movie *Painted Skin* in 2008, featuring prominent actors Donnie Yen and Zhou Xun. By 2016, he achieved All Time Favourite status and again won Best Actor at the Star Awards for *The Dream Makers 2*. His latest project, *A Quest To Heal*, premiered in July 2020.
