Cathryn Harrison
Cathryn Mary Lee Harrison (25 May 1959 – October 2018) was a distinguished English actress known for her compelling performances across film and television. Born into a family steeped in the arts, she was the daughter of actor and singer Noel Harrison and Sara Lee Eberts, and the granddaughter of the iconic Sir Rex Harrison. Cathryn had a rich familial background in performance, with her siblings Simon and Harriet also pursuing acting careers, alongside two younger siblings from her father's second marriage and an older sister from her mother’s previous marriage.
Cathryn's career began with a role in Robert Altman's film *Images*, but it was her role as Lily in *Black Moon* that marked a significant highlight. She garnered attention for her portrayal of Violet Trefusis in the television drama *Portrait of a Marriage*, showcasing her talent in complex characters. Throughout her career, she made notable appearances in British television series such as *Love on a Branch Line* and *Soldier Soldier*, where she portrayed Major Tom Cadman's wife. Cathryn also played Irenie, the wardrobe assistant, in the film adaptation of Ronald Harwood's *The Dresser* and featured in the Australian film *Blue Fire Lady* in 1977.
In May 1996, she wed Paul Laing, son of renowned psychiatrist Ronald David Laing, adopting his surname thereafter. Cathryn Harrison's contributions to the performing arts left a lasting legacy until her passing in 2018.
