Delphine Seyrig
Delphine Claire Beltiane Seyrig (April 10, 1932 – October 15, 1990) was a renowned Lebanese-born French actress and director. Seyrig gained prominence not only for her captivating performances but also for her significant contributions to the feminist movement in the 1970s. She collaborated with influential filmmakers such as Chantal Akerman, Marguerite Duras, and Ulrike Ottinger, advocating for women's rights and representation in cinema. In 1975, she co-founded the collective Les Insoumuses (The Resistant Muses) with Carole Roussopoulos and Ioana Wieder. This group utilized video production as a powerful tool for empowerment and political activism, addressing issues of gender and social justice through their work.
