Renzo Montagnani
Renzo Montagnani (September 11, 1930 – May 22, 1997) was a renowned Italian actor and voice artist, born in Alessandria, Piedmont. His theatrical career began with the guidance of Erminio Macario, leading to his film debut in the poignant drama Metello (1970). Montagnani later transitioned to the popular genre of commedia all'italiana, notably appearing in the final two installments of the beloved Amici miei series in 1982 and 1985. Additionally, he gained recognition on television for his portrayal of Don Fumino, a charming Tuscan priest.
Apart from his on-screen work, Montagnani was a prolific voice actor, dubbing for notable Hollywood figures such as Michel Piccoli, Charles Bronson, and Philippe Noiret in Italian cinema. He lent his voice to the character Thomas O'Malley in Disney's animated classic The Aristocats (1970).
In the 1980s, Montagnani frequently starred in commedia sexy all'italiana films, often alongside Edwige Fenech, the genre's leading lady, and comic actor Alvaro Vitali.
In 1959, he tied the knot with Eileen Jarvis, a former member of the Bluebell Girls, and they welcomed their son Daniele in 1963. Montagnani passed away from lung cancer in Rome on May 22, 1997, at the age of 66, and was laid to rest in England. Tragically, his son Daniele also succumbed to cancer in 2004 and was buried alongside him.
