Plot
In a whirlwind of chaotic disguises and identity blunders, Victor Pivert, a pompous and prejudiced French industrialist, finds himself captured by Slimane, an Arab rebel leader. Together, they don rabbi costumes to evade not only assassins from Slimane's homeland but also the authorities who suspect Pivert of murder. Pivert assumes the role of Rabbi Jacob, a cherished figure making his long-awaited return to France after three decades in the U.S. Meanwhile, his dentist wife mistakenly believes he’s abandoning her for another woman, and their daughter is on the verge of getting married amidst a community eager to welcome Rabbi Jacob back.
