Prince

Prince Rogers Nelson, born on June 7, 1958, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was a groundbreaking American artist who left an indelible mark on the music industry until his untimely passing on April 21, 2016. Known simply as Prince, he was a versatile musician, actor, dancer, and record producer, celebrated for his flamboyant style, dynamic stage presence, and impressive vocal range. His innovative sound blended an array of genres, including funk, rock, R&B, new wave, soul, and pop, earning him over 100 million record sales globally, solidifying his status as one of the best-selling musical artists in history.

With a career spanning several decades, Prince's accolades include seven Grammy Awards, an American Music Award, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award for his iconic film Purple Rain. In 2004, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility, a testament to his profound influence on contemporary music.

Prince burst onto the scene with his debut album For You in 1978 and achieved widespread acclaim with the platinum-selling Prince in 1979. His subsequent albums, including Dirty Mind, Controversy, and the monumental Purple Rain, showcased his provocative lyrics and genre-defying sound. After a brief hiatus from his name due to a contract dispute, he resumed releasing music under the name Prince in 2000, producing 16 additional albums, including the acclaimed Musicology. His final work, Hit n Run Phase Two, was released shortly before his death, which resulted from an accidental fentanyl overdose at his Paisley Park studio. He was 57 years old.
