He gained recognition as a gifted stage performer in the late 1950s, and his collaboration with renowned director Luchino Visconti began in 1960 with the play L'Arialda. Following a series of minor roles, including a part in Federico Fellini's iconic film La Dolce Vita, Orsini made his leading debut in 1962 in Giuseppe Patroni Griffi's film Il mare.
