Jerrod Carmichael
Rothaniel Jerrod Carmichael, born on June 22, 1987, is a multifaceted American stand-up comedian, actor, and writer renowned for his unique perspective and humor. He is best known for creating and starring in the critically acclaimed NBC sitcom, The Carmichael Show, which delves into pressing social issues through a semi-autobiographical lens.
At just 20 years old, Jerrod relocated to Los Angeles, eager to chase his passion for stand-up comedy despite having no prior experience. His first performance was at an open-mic night at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood. His latest special, Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel, also directed by Burnham, garnered him his first Primetime Emmy Award and was significant for his public coming out as gay.
In addition to his television and film work, Jerrod contributed to Tyler, the Creator's album Igor in 2019 and co-wrote a Django/Zorro film adaptation with Quentin Tarantino. He made his directorial debut with the comedy thriller On the Count of Three in 2021 and hosted Saturday Night Live and the 80th Golden Globe Awards in 2022.
